Corrections/Notes:

Page 24   The Sun is converting 4.7 million tons of mass into energy every second, not 660 million tons.

Page 43   The sun is 400 times farther from the Earth than the Moon, not 400,000 times. This typo has no effect on the succeeding discussion.

Page 72 footnote.  It is probably clearer to say that degrees Kelvin are 273 degrees "cooler" than degrees Centigrade, rather than saying the degrees Kelvin are 273 degrees "warmer."  In other words, 0 degrees Kelvin is 273 degrees cooler than 0 degrees Centigrade.  Equivalently, 0 degrees Centigrade is equal to 273 degrees Kelvin.

Page 93 The Andromeda galaxy is 2 million light years away, not 20 million light years away.

Page 110 The Sun's orbit around the center of the Milky Way is elliptical (not perfectly circular).

Page 111 The words "lightning" and "thunder" are reversed. The sentence in the second full paragraph should read: "Experience with lightning and thunder teaches us to expect the latter shortly after we see the former."

Page 123 Gottfried Leibniz was a German mathematician working in France, rather than a French mathematician.
